What’s Up Tyler - 07/24/2025
At the risk of typing the words “What’s Up” 30 more times today, I’ll just say hi or how do you do. This week in Tyler we’ve got a sick comedy show, board games, super hero movies, and a cool grassroots initiative that almost anyone can participate in to help their community during these very very hot summer days!
Your Weekend Blueprint
FRI: Rose City Comedy @ 7:00PM - Come and see Myq Kaplan, a stand up comedian whose appeared on various TV show networks like The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, and America’s Got Talent. Get a ticket ahead of time!
SAT: Boards & Bites Meetup @ 11:00AM - Every month the r/tylertx discord community “Tyler Texas Meetups” hosts a get together at the Boards and Bites cafe in Tyler. There you can sit back, relax, sip coffee, and destroy everyone in a very tense game of monopoly. Learn More Here!
SUN: Times Square Grand Slam 10:40am - 9:30pm - Did you hear that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming to Times Square? No? Me neither! That’s why it would be a great time to tell people and go see a movie. It’s like a perfect first date without all the awkward small talk, let the movie speak for you. Get a ticket here!

Tyler Tastes
Stanley’s BBQ - Stanley’s has been a staple of tyler, and for good reason, their food is incredibly good. From pulled pork to the mother cluckin’ sandwich, you won’t leave empty in your stomach or your spirits when you go to this pit.

Nerd Out
Geek World @ 6:00PM Every Thursday - Geek World Games hosts open Warhammer 40k game nights every Thursday! It’s a great space to learn about the game, or annoy everyone with your Tau army (much love to the greater good homies). Find out more here!
Impacting Tyler
Drive By Aide - A Tylerite on r/tylertx came up with a simple gesture to help those who we see walking about in the sweltering summer heat of Tyler. His idea was initially to offer rides to those he saw walking or bycling around the city, but after being turned down time and time again on his offer, he has instead opted to a simple gesture of handing out water and gatorade. The idea is to simply lend a hand to those who seem like they may need it as you go about your day, keeping a case of gatorade or water in your vehicle.

Jimmy Fortune Live at Liberty Hall 8/29/25 - Country & Gospel Halls of Fame member Jimmy Fortune will be at Liberty Hall in August! This would be a great opportunity if you love everything boot stomping, truck driving, back roads country music. Learn more here!
